Hi kayaknut – Thanks for the detail description, sounds great. I've been considering trying one of the Parkway campgrounds. Are you familiar with any of the other ones? In particular Julian Price Park, it's a bit closer for me.

Hi Julie -
I am a kayaker too, I don't know about BYOK to the lake at Julian Price but I read it's only 47 acres so it probably wouldn't take long to explore. It's a little off topic but Lake Jocassee is fantasic for kayaking if you haven't been there. You will have to contend with motor boats and there was a float plane the last time I was there. There is a South Carloina State Park called Devil's Fork at the lake. I haven't camped there but have had good experiences at other SC State Parks.
Thanks for the tip on Linville Falls campground, sounds like one to avoid. I've hiked the gorge many times and it's great but more difficult hiking than it might seem.
Doug
