WOW! We took our 2011 Sportsman Classic up to Tallulah Gorge SP in Georgia. What a great place. 50 campsites, two bath and restroom houses. Well maintained and easy to get to, US 441 in Tallulah Falls. Good hiking, very strenuous in places. Pets welcome. I highly recommend.
glad to know that they have a great campground. hopefully you were able to get over to amicalola falls too. a couple of years ago we celebrated a long weekend, my 50th birthday in the talulah area. this is a special place for me. that was pre-sportsmen so we depended on brick and mortar accommodations. we spent the first night in Helen ga which is a town that remade itself Bavarian to save itself and succeeded big time, which in itself is sort of a statement since we are living a" second chance life" the next night we stayed at the only lodge in Tallulah gorge. We walked all those steps into the gorge and the hike around the rim. i remember that on the way in we stopped at a little store on the rim full of the little dime store toys of our youth. we then moved on to amicalola falls state park which i believe to be the crown of the area. we stayed at the lodge, and I'm sorry i did not even look at the campground. this was my birthday night and asti flowed. the next day we walked about 1200 steps down the falls, to the visitors center then back up. this was a very life affirming time for me, as are most times in the woods. i never really realized that till i was standing on a knob on the Blue Hills Reservation looking back at Boston mass., logan and the harbor. i knew if i were downtown i could never feel that good. sorry, went off on a different track, but haven't we all.
yall come on back.

Anicalola Falls State Park has a pretty nice campground, but it's really tight! I haven't actually camped there, just drove around looking to see if I did want to camp there when I went to Georgia in April. The Sportsmen Classics would do ok in the park but nothing much bigger would fit. And if I remember correctly, there was a pretty good climb to get to the campground.
I did camp at Unicoi State Park right outside of Helen and enjoyed that experience. I had my niece and her friend with me and they really enjoyed Helen. Plus they liked the camping experience.
