We just returned from a 2 week excursion to Yosemite and Sequoia. On the way we stayed at Capital Reef national park, the camp ground is very nice with paved sites and the surrounding area is very interesting, we highly recommend it ( as well as ARCHES, MOAB and just about every thing else in that area). We then ventured up into California and spent the first few days at Convict Lake camp ground. We had a real nice site, #77, right up from the stream. The campground was clean and quiet and the lake and views were exceptional, we really liked it there more than Mammoth or the other areas. Next came Yosemite, stayed in North Pines camp, cramped and noisey. Although we really LOVE Yosemite, I kind of classify it as the Disney World of national parks because it is so freaking crowded. The hike to the top of Half Dome made the lacking campground worth it in the end. We left a day early and wandered off to Sequoia- Kings canyon where we stayed at Lodge Pole campground. This was also a very nice camp, we had site # 98 which was sort of at the end of a loop and was really kinda private even though the trail head was right next to us. Really liked it there. All the camps we stayed at offered no electric, water or showers so we lived off the grid all the time, depending on my new solar panel system from Northern tool to keep the battery charged. It worked very well for all but two days when some one forgot to turn a light off before we left the trailer. Oh well, thats where jumper cables come in handy. 5600 miles and tons o fun!!
