My wife & I been to a few campgrounds along Lake Michigan with a 10 X 17 tent.  We love it & plan to do much more of it.  But we always talk about getting a small trailer to replace the tent.

last month we went to an RV show in Grand Rapids & saw some KZ trailers, & now we are purchasing a 2010 (electric only) 14RK.

Iv'e never towed anything before, & was pleased to find this forum.

Welcome, Carl to our forums.  You and the Mrs. are going to love your new all electric 14RK.  My wife, Donna and I believe the 14RK layout to be one of the most functional.  Our's is all electric, too.  Feel free to PM me to pick my brain for modification ideas and questions.

You will enjoy your new camper.  I love tent camping (although mine is nowhere as big as a 10×17) and got the camper to extend my camping season.  For me it's more a summer thing – it just gets too hot in TX for tent camping.Surprised

Hello,  I am Carl's wife Debbie, and we pick up our trailer today.   Even though there is still snow on the ground, it makes spring much more promising

We made plans for the UP in August already and we will see what else the summer brings.  We will be taking advantage of the Michigan State Parks and Lake Michigan.    Life is Great. Laugh Cool Wink

14RK?  I don't see that floorplan anywhere.  You mean 14RB? [edit] Oh, I found one for sale online and saw the schematic… very practical layout indeed.

Happy camping in da U.P.  Laugh  I always enjoy getting back to Michigan (was born and raised there).

Happy pick-up day Carl & Debbie!  You will sure enjoy that new camper.  Have fun in the U.P.  We can't wait to get back there sometime and visit Tahquamenon Falls & Van Riper again. Smile

Happy Camping,

Julie

Hi Julie,  We made reservations for Tequomenon Falls State Park.   Is it nice?   I know they don't have a shower, we will be there for 2 nights and then head home so we will have to make the best of it.   I have to check out Van Riper, I have never heard of that.   We are planning on going to Munising too, and hopefully go kayaking.  It is suppose to be beautiful by Pictured Rocks.   I sure love seeing that trailer in the driveway now.   We go in at least once a day and dream about using it.   Can't wait.

Thanks for your encouragement,   Debbie

You will like the falls, it's nice at Tahquamenon.  And although Whitefish Point museum is small, it is worth a visit since you're so close.  I have to comment that my daughter interned near Whitefish Point one autumn with an outdoors group, spent about 3 months banding owls.  She got pretty good at catching them.

Grand Marais' Woodland CG is also a nice one, right on the lake.  And west of town you can climb a big sand dune with a view of the lake.

Thank you Julie and everyone who offered information about our UP trip.   It was very helpful.   I know we will have a great time, but warm and sunny would be the best.   It is the UP though, and I know all too well what Michigan weather is like.   Yell Cry  Have a great spring everyone,,,I believe it is finally here.    DEB
