Probably a bit overkill but I wanted to disconnect my battery without lifting the cover and without a key to lose. I used a Cantex waterproof box #5133705 and a Cole Hersee switch #3484-BX. The switch terminals protrude into the battery box slightly so I put a piece of wood between the battery and battery box to prevent the terminal lugs from damaging the battery. I used rubber weather strip to seal the switch box to the battery box.

This is exactly like a job I asked my dealer to perform – ability to unhook the battery with the flip of a switch. They looked at me like I was crazy.
Nice job. Cool looking as well.

You're both crazy! Just kidding. Nice looking mod.
You have to remember to flip the switch to "on" or the battery won't charge, am I right? See, I would forget. I'm probably better off without something like that.

You are correct. I hope I don't forget……like the time I forgot to unplug and stow the shore power cord… ooops.

I also made a battery disconnect. The clock on the radio will kill a battery in 2 weeks. On another camper I installed a similar device like the one described above by using a marine battery switch. But on my 14RB I simply installed an inline 50 amp fuse on the positive battery line. It has the same gauge wiring as the battery (important) and the fuse is mounted in a rubber holster with a hinged snap on cover so it's weather proof. I used heat shrink connectors. Was very inexpensive. Found the stuff at a local electrical parts/connection store. So all I do is remove the fuse when I store it and everything is OFF.

This is the one I mounted to the top of the battery box: http://www.princessauto.com/tr…..off-switch. I bought mine at advanced auto parts for about $8, locally. Used a large hole drill bit, a dremel and got a great fit along with a little marine silicone to make it water tight. Also used a 15″ extra battery connection cable. Very easy install. I just put the key on the ring with my trailer keys.
