Anybody notice sqeaking sounds from the back of their KZ when it's being towed? I do and it is annoying when towing in town or through residential zones. With only a six month warranty I made a "warranty appointment" for late August as I don't want the KZ tied up for a week or two this summer! I plan on "fix it" list to give them and the squeaks will be on it. It might be something not "fixable" but we might as well give them a shot at it. With the build qulity of the KZ I doubt the list will be long. If all else fails I'll turn the stereo up a little louder…

I think it's pretty much when going over bumps (large or small) and dips/depressions/holes (large or small. It is noticed at higher speeds as well but I can't tell if it's better or worse at speed. I think it sounds like the rear suspension ? It does it regardless of going straight or turning.

Call KZ Customer Service…..perhaps, Matt or your dealer's tech. dept. Ask if it's okay to grease leaf-spring linkages with high-pressure grease. John Deere dealers carry high-pressure grease, for example. My 14RK does not squeak, yet, bet it would be a good idea to lubricate to reduce wear.

Hey I noticed some squeaking on my 16BH this weekend when we went out. We took the camper out last month and no squeaks (that were noticeable), and this weekend I was embarrassed at the noise we made. I agree, best I can tell it is coming from the suspension. Let me know if you can fix the squeak. I would love for people to once again remember me for my awesome camper and not the great noise I make coming down the road.

Mine squeaks as the suspension is comressed past a certain point. Nothing to worry about, as every trailer I towed since 1988 has done this. Main reason is the Shackles to the frame and the front spring bolt are bushingless to the frame. Add in the steel insert on the bushings of the spring, add some moisture, and rust appears. Add in that every time the suspension moves, it's metal on metal which creates noise.
One solution is to get new bolts with grease fittings, but that will only help on 2 of the 3 points, as you have the front spring which is directly bolted in and can use lubrication, the lower rear shackle bolt which is located like the front bolt, but the top shackle bolt is just attached by sliding through a steel bracket welded to the frame, very hard to keep lubricated. Plus the bolts with grease fittings in them are drilled to push grease out 1/2 way down the bolt and get compressed between the bolt and inside of the spring bushing, something the rear top shackle mounting area doesn't have.
One word of caution when removing the bolts, on mine I had to replace one because the nut was cross threaded on the bolt when installed from the factory, also the bolts are splined 1/8″ down from the head of the bolt, to prevent them from spinning, so they will need to be removed with a hammer from the threaded end, and lastly they are shoulder bolts, to make things tougher to find. I had to go to a specialty trailer shop to get the new bolt I needed to replace.

My 14RB squeaks as well. Actually it made a hellavu lot of noise. I pulled into the gas station and everyone turned to see what the noise was all about. Extremely embarrasing. However, while at the gas station, I purchased a can of WD40 and sprayed the bolts and shackles on the suspension. Instant quiet. I pulled out of the gas station and not one squeak. I drove away much happier.
