Two weeks ago we drove 140 miles round trip to our dealer with similar symptoms to todays problem.

FIX:  White wire in GFCI (main) was very loose…….tech. tightened screw…….tested GFCI circuit with load for two hours.  GFCI failed to trip, as previous.

TODAY'S  FACTS:

Using same 14 AWG 50-foot extension cord off outside 120 VAC 15 Amp GFI outlet to 14RK's 10 AWG/with adapter.

No load placed on trailer's GFCI and its 3 each dedicated outlets.

Running Air Cond. off its 20 Amp outlet in wardrobe/closet; the TV and DVD Player off the 15 Amp outlet in overhead cabinet (normally used by factory microwave); and, running 4.6 cu.ft. refrigerator off its 15 Amp outlet.

GFCI continues to trip, intermittently.

Might I have a bad GFI at the house outlet or could the 14 AWG extension cord be the problem?  Perhaps, the TT GFCI unit has been bad all along.  Owner's manual (white cover) warns of using less than 10 AWG extension cord with the 30 Amp/10 AWG trailer extension cord wiring.Frown

Update:

Local hardware store guy thought I should try a 12 AWG extension cord to see if the larger gauge would limit the GFCI's tripping.  It did, so tomorrow I'm off to look for a 10 AWG, as suggested by the White covered Classic Owner's Manual…..at least I think that I'm finally on the right track.

Update:

July 5, 2010……Local electrician replaced GFCI (GFI) that KZ-RV had sent as replacement.  Forty seven hours later, GFI has not tripped as of yet.  Original GFI tripped every two to five hours while hooked to 15Amp, using 30Amp extension cord; and, every five to twelve hours when hooked to 30Amp, with or without 30Amp extension cord.

So, looks like it could very well be fixed. Laugh  I'll report further should we experience additional problems with the GFI circuit.

Thanks for the updates!  So it looks like the problem was with the GFI and not the cord?

GFI has not tripped after more than 250 hoursLaughSmileWinkCoolSurprised, so GFI must have been the culprit.
