OK, so we all went out and bought a 2010 unit. Guess what, you're frame is coated with rust in spots. Where they welded, screwed into, etc. The dealer or the manufacturer shipped it or towed it down Route 90 or 70 during the last ice and snow storm of the season, coating the belly with plenty of road salt and ice melt. And they didn't wash it off until either: a) you bought it, b) you were picking it up, or c) you washed it off after you got it home.

Not a big problem unless you plan on trailering it to Alaska in winter, or drive in the winter slush of the northern part of the country.

But if you can get some paint on it, it will last longer than without.

What I use and I know of 3 dealers that use the same stuff, Rustoleum Gloss Black Spray paint. Right off the shelf at the hardware store and home centers.

Now BIG BIG thing to remember. Your trailer is white, and you'll probably want to keep it white. So use masking tape and either cardboard or plastic drop cloth materials to mask off the aluminum siding from black overspray.

Also two other things. First, if you are going to climb under the trailer to touch up the frame, first wipe it down with a rag before painting it, and secondly, wear old clothes and put on something to protect your hair and face from the paint. I've seen guys crawl under a trailer and come out with black spots all over their face and hair from the overspray from the paint cans.

I touch mine up in the spring as a ritual, and did the touch up after the Axle remounting issue.

Good luck
