Is there a way to turn down the temp on the water heater? Checked my manual, and it says unit will automatically shut off when water reaches 120 degrees. That makes me think there is no wat to adjust it.

I thought mine had an adjustmet outside, but now I'm trying to remember. It seems like we did turn ours down some because the water was so hot. It's dark outside or I would go out and check.

We can adjust ours on our 2011 19SB. As you look at our hot water heater, just to the right of the "Pilot/on/off" plunger, you'll see a black quarter circle tab with five holes that select temps from low-high. Pull tab and turn to engage desired temp hole We always run on low. More then adequate temp.
Good luck.

Thanks for posting, Mike. That's what I was trying to remember what we did. We keep ours set pretty low as well.

I think the 'low' setting is still way too hot. I've found that after getting to the campsite, I'll let the heater run for a while then turn it to 'pilot'. There's plenty of hot water for many hours (except showers, of course), and the burner doesn't have be on for as long or as often. Keep in mind the the pilot light itself still adds some heat.

While safety around hot water is an important issue, I think the water heater mfr may have chosen to set the heat so high to help with the heater's small capacity. Having the water extra hot lets one mix with more cold water to make a larger quantity of just-right water than what would otherwise be possible.
