I have a 2014 190 with the non-roof a/c….which I wish I had the roof unit. It was amost 90° yesterday and I had the a/c set to 70° and the temp wouldn't get below 76°. I did put a little desk fan by the air conditioner to help circulate the air, but that didn't seem to do much. It was mainly on for the dog while we played in the river, the dog hates water, but I was suprised that it didn't keep up. Is there any tricks to getting this unit to cool this camper? I saw an upgrade from the 5k btu unit to a 6.5k btu unit, but that seems like a lot of money and work for a small upgrade.

Upgrade is about your only option. Try to park in the shade as much as possible. the 5000 would not even keep up in my 14RB.

Thank you, I figured that. What are my upgrade options? I read somewhere, I think this forum, that the wiring for a roof unit is there, so is that my best bet? What roof unit comes in this unit? Does it mount where the vent in the middle of the camper is?

I stepped up to a 6500 and it is better, but my unit is smaller than yours. As for your other ?'s I can not answer, sorry. This is one of those situations where you get what you pay for.

Thank you, sad, but true. We have talked about trading it in for another rv, but we are in middle of trying to sell our house to buy another, so that comes first. It isn't that bad, I mean, it was a lot better than the tempature outside. I might look into getting a roof a/c, through my work, I have a connection on rv parts, I probably can get one for less than 1/2 the price, but that still is super expensive. I think my best bet is wait till I can upgrade. Isn't there saying that your first camper is always a mistake?

another option to consider as a secondary ac, although i havent tried it or know how you would vent it. google portable air conditioner. this is esentually a free standing dehumidifier with a hose to vent the hot air. if you could make it work you could double the cooling capacity without cutting up the cabinetry. i was going to put a link in but it keeps failing.. im not sure if my campers roof would be strong enough for roof air, and i suspect that would be the case for most of the fleet. we have a 14 and dont have an issue as long as we are in the shade. our issue is the condensation that the little box accumulates. we have to set up slightly unlevel to keep it from running down the inner wall onto our mattress
