I found a very nice 2010 sportsman classic RK at a dealership one state over from mine, so I went to look at it. Its a excellent price since its never been used but was purchased and returned. The toilet, sink have never been used. The salesman said that an older couple puchased it and then changed their minds. I cannot see any signs of use at all, its like brand spanking new. What concerns me is 1. I probly wont get a warrenty with it since it was previously owned? 2. Its a four panel sheet metal side compared to the 6 piece side their doing now with their trailers, and after seeing pictures of the 4 panel that blew apart , makes me concerned. I cannot find any dealers in my area and if I want to purchase one I have to travel out of state. I think the sales price is about a thousand dollars less than new for the same model. I am just concerned about the warrenty and panels..any thoughts would be appreciated. Thankyou

I wouldn't worry too much about the 4 vs 6 panel siding issue, also if you're saving $1000 off the new price, that is a deal maker in my opinion. Biggest thing is look it over very carefully, check the seams and the trim. I've only heard of the one incident of the siding pulling away, and from the pics, looks like it wasn't installed right from the start, combined with road vibrations, wind, and the flex of the unit itself, created the panel to fail. I've been trailering mine all over the last couple weeks, and only thing I noticed was the front and sides got dirty from road dust being kicked up while driving.

Also don't be afraid to ask the dealer if you can bring a stepladder to check out the roof or a creeper to check out the underbelly. If they object, they may be hiding something.

Good luck

Teaspoon……hope the following helps.

Our 14RK (Mfg. September, 2009), with Regular Pkge. (consisting of TV Antenna, Awning, Toilet, Spare Tire and 2 Stabilizer Jacks) + 5K btu Air Conditioning cost me $6,225 + Excise Tax and License.  We had dealer add two additional BAL brand stabilizer jacks to the front, for an additional $80.  I'm of the unsubstantiated belief that my dealer's cost was between $4,500 to $5,000.

Teaspoon…..hope this helps.

If you haven't done so already,

go to http://www.kz-rv.com

Search dealers by zip code……put in several zip codes around your state/area to develop a list of dealers, as I did.

Hi, Matt and Teaspoon!

Teaspoon, I replied to your PM about Owner's Manual.

DW and I took our 14RK (Sept., 2009 build) back to dealer this past Wednesday for some minor adjustments……broken circuit board in smoke detector and non-tightend white wire in GFCI main…..GFCI kept tripping.  This past Wednesday was a day blessed with 30 to 60 mph wind gusts……drove home 70 miles directly into these winds, with no ill effects to TT.  Winds are quite commonplace here in western Minnesota.

Well I decided to pass on the 4 panel kinda stripped version trailer , and went ahead and found a more equipped RK model a littel further down the road.It has 6 panels,elect/propane stove, toiletshower / awning/spare tire/two stab jacks/ac/ and stove. The dealership was great to deal with and I got a good price below the sale price, so Im a very happy camper Smile Eventually I would like to get a front window installed and propane heater.

What exactly is the difference between the 4 and 6 panel? I means aside from the obvious count of panels. I don't quite understand what this issue is about and would appreciate any light shed on it.

Steve, goto the other post/thread "CONSIDERING PURCHASE"……reference dallas214, Feb. 15 thru Mar. 19, 2010 disscussion of his 14RB aluminum skin peeling back and ultimate fix by kz.  Also, sending link under separate cover.

Congrats, Teaspoon!  We're sure enjoying our 14RK.

The switch by the factory 4-panels/side to 6-panels, my guess, was their attempt to remedy and beef-up aluminum side strength, to prevent peeling potential of some of the original 4-panel TTs mfg. last fall of 2009.  We have the 4-panel 14RK and recently survived the 60 mph "wind-gust-test", last Wednesday for 70 miles here in western MN.  So ours is apparently, good to go.

Thanks. I found and read up what happened.

I just noticed you're in MN. I moved from Chaska, MN to TX last year.  I lived in MN for about a year and a half. There's some real nice camping up that way. I spent a lot of time in SD at the Badlands and Black Hills.
