Traveled from Columbia, Missouri to Delavan, Wisconsin and stayed at Snug Harbor Campground.
It was our base location, since we drove to northern Illinois and Madison, Wisconsin in the car to visit family members.
Our experience confirms the experiences reported by some others….so here's a brief report.
We towed with a Ford Flex – no problems whatsoever. We think the mileage was around 11 or 12. Ouch! … but it could have been worse, right?
Used the Fantastic Fan some evenings and it was fine.
Learned that if we put the A/C on around 9 a.m. when it's cool (60's)….the unit stays comfortable all day with the A/C on. We did not have a place with shade, so we were exposed to temps in the upper 80s and 90 most of the week.
We tended to run a small electric fan most of the time, also.
Found a Camping World store and bought some of that foil stuff you can cut to size. Will use it in the future to block the sun from the skylight/fans. Lots of solar heat gets in from the skylight/fans.
Used a 4″ foam queen size pad on the main bed, and I'm glad we splurged. It was quite comfortable…and that's a place not only for sleeping, but also reading, watching TV. We bought ours at Wal Mart for a bit over $100. The queen size pad hangs over the actual bed a bit, but not a big deal.
No issues at all, but of course, since it's just the first trip we didn't expect to have any. Appreciated reading through the forum before we left.
Extremely happy with our 19BH. The upper bunk is great storage.
