Well friday was the big day I got to take my new 14RK camping!! Everything went smooth, from set up to take down. I was a bit nervous about whether I would forget to roll down the antenna or could I get the awning up, or empty the gray/black tanks without looking like a total newb but everything went smooth as silk. I cant wait to go again! Ive made a little list of things I need next trip out. I do need a mirror for the bathroom door, and some sort of spice rack. I really need those silver insulated vent shades!!! I couldnt believe the amount of heat that comes from the sun on those vents! I got desperate and put some aluminum foil over them with tape and it cut down on the heat immensily.Im really considering a electric tongue jack…it just about kills me to crank up and down on that , seems really hard going up especially.I bought some lynx levelers and they worked slick, I could have used wood but Im trying to cut down on weight due to my little truck I pull with. I did use wood though for my stabilizing jacks since they didnt look like they would work good on the lynx. I was surprized to see only 2 other small travel trailers 14ft/16ft in the campground, mostly everyone was camping in huge trailers, but people would point and smile as they drove past mine so that made me happy The little trailer is so cozy inside, I love my kitchen space. I think I had the only trailer in the whole campground that had tinted windows even.Boy those make a difference in cooling down with your ac. Here is a pic of my campout, I also posted more on our Sportsmen Classic Owners flicker group at http://www.flickr.com/people/s…..ic_owners/

John they are 16″ x 16″ solar vent shades made from what looks like silver insulation material like you use to wrap heating ducts with, and you attach them with velcro to stop heat and light from your rooftop vents. They have them at camping world but they also have a simular product called a vent pillow that is like a 2 to 3 inch foam pad wrapped in this white soft polyester type material you shove up into the vent opening to retain heat in winter or keep it cool in summer. I had looked at the latter at CW when I was there but didnt look like our vent openings would work because the indentation you would need to hold a 2 to 3 inch thick piece wasnt there, we only seem to have an inch or so of depth before the screen. What I was thinking on doing is going to lowes or home depot and seeing how much a roll of that silver duct insulation material is and the silver tape to edge it would be and make them myself. I would also like to make a cover for the entry door glass to keep the radiant heat out and attach with velcro, (not to mention make it dark inside during the day for a nap). CW also has some vent shade pulls, but not sure how much of the heat they will block.

Kim, you obviously have some photography composure training, with framing your photo with tree branch above. You must have used the equivalent of a 35 to 50mm lense, to retain the sharpness and depth of field. John

Thankyou John but it was completely by accident I assure you, no training here! LOL I do have a nice digital camera though that can do some pretty amazing things if I would just take some training, the camera is way beyond my capabilities .
