I currently own a 2002 Thor Areolite 21' which we will be putting up FS after our July 4th trip. We are looking at the 2011 Sportsman 16BH and the 14RB. My question is can someone tell me what the weight limit on the top bunk is on the 16BH. I was told 300# but think thats a bit much. I could see maybe 150#. Also while i'm asking. I live in Texas. Can anyone recomend a KZ dealer in TX. TIA.

300# sounds about right. On a trip last year my friend and his dog took the top bunk (Wallace slept at his feet) and they were about 300#s combined.
It depends on where you're at in Texas. I got mine from Crestview RV in Buda, but know PPL in Houston also sells them.

Thanks Steve…If 300# is correct, we may go that route. Our 16yo mostly sleeps up there 95#, but its good to know it will hold more
I live in Victoria which is 1 1/2 hours from Corpus Christi, San Antonio, & Houston. But don't mind driving further if I can get a good deal as well as good service. I will look at Crestview's website. As for PPL, I thought they only sold "used" trailers. Atleast thats what I saw the last time we were there. I'll check out their website as well.

You're right about PPL. I meant Terry Vaughn RV's carries the KZ line.

Be sure he tests the bunk before you purchase. It is a little close to the ceiling.
BTW, it holds my 250lbs & 6'1″ frame just fine.

We bought a 16BH Spree Escape from Terry Vaughn's in Spring, TX back in March. It was our first RV ever, and I was not that happy with the buying experience because the person doing the walkthrough was not that knowledgeable. Had to learn a lot of things on our own. I suppose that if you know exactly what you are looking for and know how to use all of the equipment then it would not be that big of a deal, but it was for us. We went with Spree Escape instead of Sportsmen Classic because at 6' I needed the extra inches in height that the SE has over the SC. We have not used the top bunk for anything so far but to throw stuff on top of it. (Wife and I sleep in the dinette area bed while our 3yo sleeps in the lower bunk.)

I'm 6ft and have the 16bh. There's plenty of room to stand but I'm pretty sure I'd hit the ceiling if I so much as jumped to a conclusion inside. I prefer to do that in the great outdoors anyways.
The sales guys at Crestview knew a fair amount about them, but I knew more because of all the research I'd done before buying. The RV techs there give you a full walkthrough of every single system on it before allowing you to drive it off the lot. I had originally planned to buy mine at Terry Vaughn's until I learned about Crestview RV (well that and it was much closer to me).

Thanks for all the info./input. I have been looking at Terry Vaughn's website for several months now as well as a dealer in Corpus Christi. Looks like we will be going with the 16BH once our Areolite is sold.

Look up Colonial Del Rey RV in Corpus. I just traded in our 16BH 3 weeks ago. It's listed on their site as a 2010 Model but its wrong, it's 2011. We only used the RV 3 times!!! never used Heater, Never used Microwave, and used Shower only Once. It's like NEW. I put the Dexter Axle Flip kit on it so its sits higher. I can personally vouch for it if you want to save money over new. I believe they are asking 7,995 for it!!

I was there a few weeks back. Talked with Ed, their salesman. They were low on inventory with a nice inventory on order. I may just have to run up there soon and check yours out. What did you "trade up" to?

We traded up to a Palomino Puma 23FB. Totally better experience to be honest. It's my Wife, Myself and our 20mo old daughter and the 16bh was just too tiny for us. When it was too hot outside for our daughter we were just too cramped up in the 16bh.
