MY FIRST CAMPING TRIP
Here is a picture of my first camp site. Located in Niagara County, New York … just a hour drive from my house.
Niagara County Campground Resort. – http://www.niagaracamping.com/index.html
I'll add a review of the campground in the appropriate thread after I have been here for a week or more. I have booked the site for a month and will be here periodically throughout the month.

Took my FKTH16 out camping for 3 days at Eagle Lake, CA. It was a great time and we stayed nice and warm at night with the heater. My son and I are going to head out on a 3 week camping trip to CA, OR, WA, ID, WY, MT, ND, MN, and then back to Iowa. We are going to spend the 4th of July at Mt Rainer and then head to Yellowstone for 4 days as we follow the Lewis and Clark trail from Astoria, OR to Souix City, IA.

Thankyou Corinne for making this forum and attending to our concerns. I know its not easy to have a life, work and do 10 other things at the same time, there should be more hours in the day!!! LOL This site has been a great hellp to me, not just for the useful information I can find on here but the feeling of community and pride in our Sportsmen If there is anything I can do to make this forum better or help with anything you might not have time for just let me know, I am willing to do whatever it takes to keep this forum alive and growing.
I have also contacted KZ and told them about this forum, and inquired about some promotional items they might offer to us to spread the word about the classics. Hopefully I will hear back from them soon. Eventually I would like to have a sportsmen campout sponsored and promoted by KZ, anyways we can dream

Hi, Kim!
Did KZ-RV ever get back to you?

No John they have not…however I think if we wrote a letter to KZ marketing dept that might get a response. Im not sure what exactly KZ could do as far as this forum, i.e. participation, news annoucements of new products or promotions, ect since KZ has their own website. I do know that a forum or two I happen to belong to thats about a particular product the company that produces the product does actively participate in monitoring customer response re their product…I would hope KZ would participate as well in this Sportsmen Classic forum too. Theres alot of good feedback we can offer KZ and I truly think this forum does influence new buyers in choosing the KZ Sportsmen line. I would like to have a sponsored KZ campout, like the airstream people or good sam people do. Im not sure how that is organized however or if anyone would be interested since we seem pretty spread apart, but hopefully one day it can happen.
If anyone would like to give suggestions on contacting KZ and what to contain in the letter it would be appreciated. Im not the best writer. I also have noticed we are gaining members from not just the Sportsmen line but the other KZ lines as well which I think is wonderful. Again if anyone has suggestions as to what we would like KZ to recognize or address regarding this forum throw it out there.

Hey Mike … what's on the left rear corner of the roof?? My first thought was a TV satellite dish.

That is the Maxx Air fan. It mounts overtop the existing vent cover, which can be left up all the time.

We took our first long trip with the camper this year after upgrading from the 14RB to the 19BH. 1,000 mile round trip and the camper was AWESOME!! For the record, we loved our 14RB also, but we have taken in a niece to live with us and the bunkhouse gives her own sleeping area.

Bigjohn, I see your awning supports are out on the ground. How is that done? This is news to me, the guy walking me through the RV never said anything about being able to do that. Not that I even used the awning once on my recent 2.5 week trip to Montana, but it would be nice to know how to do what you did. I thought the supports had to stay attached to, and angled out from, the trailer's side.
Here's a photo of the Escape at Glacier Campground west of Glacier National Park.
And here is Lake McDonald, from the Apgar (west) end.

That is strange, it does not seem to have created thumbnails. The photos show full size but cut off. Any idea why? I don't think I did any differently than before…
[on edit] Looks like I inserted them too large. When I resized to 600×450 they went in ok.

Strange … your trailer looks identical to mine. LOL
Love the picture of Lake McDonald. Have to mark that down as a place to visit in my travels.

Karsty, I have to admit that I tweaked the lake photo to darken the sky and improve contrast. But Glacier is definitely worth spending time in. I'd rank it up there with Yosemite, only far less crowded.
Here is Avalanche Lake. It's about a 2 mile hike (each way) but it sure is pretty.
Here's Many Glacier Hotel with some beargrass (the white flowers) in the foreground.
This deer came strolling right through my campsite, munching on leaves and beargrass flowers, quite unconcerned about myself and the folks I was chatting with in the next campsite… the deer just walked right between us as we snapped photos.

Thanks. Glacier CG was quiet with nice grounds. Didn't go into the restrooms but everything else looked clean and well kept. It was not much more money than the national park CGs, but smaller and lots more amenities.
I rode my bike around at Apgar and that CG is just as pretty, just no hookups. But if there it's easy to roam around the 'village', walk down by the lake, etc. The second evening I ate my dinner, read a bit until close to sunset, then drove back into the park to enjoy Apgar some more and see how the lake looked in evening light. Got myself an ice cream cone (huckleberry!) and sat looking out over the water for a while. It was very peaceful and uncrowded at that time of day. They don't even man the entrance booths that late, I just drove right in.
