I'm still learning my way through this, but needed a little help in putting together a list of things I might need for external trailer operations. I've got tools in my truck and am looking mainly for trailer specific items I might still need. Any help is always appreciated and hope this helps first time owners know what they might need but not think to get.

Things I've bought so far …

2 Wheel chocks

4 Stabilizer jack pads

1 Brass water pressure regulator

1 Sewage pipe kit

Things I need to buy …

1 Drinking water hose

Thanks! But I've got a few questions now.

What kind of adapter exactly? I know a power adapter, but from what type to what type are you talking about.

I have the Rhinoflex sewage kit, and I don't see how/where the sewage clamps would work with it. The friends who turned me onto it said I wouldn't need them. I'll check and get back on this one.

Do you have a brand of leveling blocks you'd recommend?

I've got those collapsible water jugs with built in funnels.

I verified that I've got a socket that fits the anode rod.

Thanks again!

Hi, Steve!

good torque wrench……TT wheel lugs should be checked before each trip (more often on long trip) + tire change

TT jack (tire change)……I carry 2-ton floor jack and wood blocks

calibrated air pressure gauge…..check tire psi often to maintain max psi cold

30 amp to 15 amp adapter

tow mirrors for tow vehicle (Search "tow mirror" thread (dated April, 2010)

30 to 15 amp dogbone and 15 amp outlet adapter strip, with volt meter + reverse polarity gauge for checking electrical tower (post) at campsite

extra 10 or 12 AWG extension cord……for horse shows, county fairs, etc. where power is at some distance

water filtration device for "City Water hook-up"……best to filter out fine sand before it gets into plumbing

12 volt dc fan + cigar lighter (male) adapter (NAPA Auto Parts have components in stock)

12 volt dc LCD TV for boondocking

12 volt dc CD Receiver (AM/FM/CD car radio) + mounted speakers + 31″ roof antenna (Leisure Time Marketing / Audiovox HS-519L (24-2160) can be mounted on roof or side of TT)

paper towel roll holder……kitchen area

TP holder for half-moon facilities

several pair rubber gloves (throw away after handling any potential sewage contaminated device)

spare light bulbs and fuses

?

What's a good length to get for the water hose? 10 or 25 foot?

You might throw in a roll of duct tape, its good for if a stone hits a window and breaks it, your power cord receptable keeps falling out of the electrical connector box,a pipe gets a leak…all sorts of things.

A good outdoor mat to keep dirt/grass out of the TT.

I have got a 15 amp converter plug, but was told to never use appliances or AC while plugged in with it. Is that true? Lady at RV store said it can screw up your wiring.

Forgive me, but why do I need a socket to use the water heater?

I've got the following queued up in my Amazon cart …

15M/30FM Amp adapter

25ft drinking water hose

RV water filter 100 microns

Things I'm debating on getting still …

Leveler pads – Not sure how often I would really need them

2 ton floor jack – I really need a recommendation because there are so many with bad reviews.

Things I already have …

2 Wheel chocks

4 Stabilizer jack pads

1 Brass water pressure regulator

1 Sewage pipe kit

Duct tape

AWG extension cord 25ft

Tire pressure gauge

Tools galore

Anyone got anything else they consider essential to external trailer ops?

Steve, you will need leveler pads anywhere you camp…..boondocking and campgrounds, even the concrete pads in campground are often times not level from one side of trailer to the other.  At least carry some wood ones…..I'm using green-treated stair treads.

I almost forgot to mention…a level of somesort …Ive got a cheapo from big lots..its bright orange so its handy to see in the storage area and first thing to grab as I set up in a campspot. I think its a three foot one, I just set it on the floor to check levelness then use my lynx levelers as needed.

I'm thinking about getting these to help with that … http://www.amazon.com/gp/produ…..PDKIKX0DER

OoOOo .. and I managed to score the water filter and 25ft hose at the local Walmart for less than what I was about to pay online (even w/free delivery).

Not a knock on Walmart, but I have been finding items at Dollar Tree. Everything in the store is $1. Found some of the stick on levels as well as a regular 2 foot level & lots of misc. tools and equipment in the automotive/hardware section.

I couldn't find any levels less than $14 at Walmart, but will check Dollar Tree to see if they have them. I think I'll gorilla glue them to the side and front to keep them from falling off.

Well … you  can colour me confused!!  I am just in the process of ordering my first trailer … a 14 foot Sportsman Classic RB … and I thought I could just drive it off the lot and away I go.  NOT!!

I appreciate all the information contained in this thread and will compile and list of equipment I might need from the posts here.  Maybe I can get the dealer to throw some in??

By way of an introduction … I just retired this year. Intend to travel around North America for as long as time permits. In the past I have hotel/motel it … but decided that I want more freedom to stop where and when I want.  Photography is my passion and I will combine my travelling with photography.

Thanks again …
