My local dealer called to inform me that they've finally received my 14RB in stock. I'll be picking up and bringing home my new baby this weekend.

TY TY … I'm looking forward to taking her out for her first shakedown trip. After that it's going to be MOD City for her. I can't thank you guys enough for all the mod ideas you've been posting and I'm looking forward to being able to contribute a few of my own.

OK .. slight change of plans.
The mom decided to surprise as I was about to sign the purchase agreement with extra money to get a bigger trailer. I'm getting the 16BH now.
Tell me, is the brake system really required for it?

Absolutely. You need to think about safety. The cost really isn't that great to get the breaking system. You and your family are absolutely worth it. When you are going down the highway at 55mph or greater and need to stop in a hurry, you definitely need trailer brakes.
We have them and we are so comfortable knowing that we can stop safely when need be. When we stop on a regular basis, the trailer brakes go on simultaneously and you just stop peacefully!! As Nike says, "Just Do It"

The reason I ask is because I moved. Twice. Once from CA to MN. and then a year later from MN to TX. I rented the max size cargo trailer from uhaul and never needed them. The max weight of the cargo trailer was 2500pds I think. Seeing that the 16BH weighs less than that even with my stuff in it … I wasn't sure if it's a necessity.
Sadly I don't have a family, but there are others out there who do. The cost of responsibility isn't much when there are lives at stake. Mainly I wanna make sure I'm still around to care for my beagle.
I'll be towing it with a 2006 Honda Ridgeline and am looking forward to life on the road soon.

With your TV I'd get the brakes, just for piece of mind. We just got our controller installed today so we did our maiden voyage without a controller and we didn't even feel the TT. But we're glad to have it.
