I ended up flipping the axle for the extra height and am very happy with the result.  The WD hitch that I already had has so much more ground clearance when the trailer/truck are level and the pulling in and out of the driveway is so much easier.  It was worth the money for me and gives me more peace of mind that I won't bottom out and damage the trailer.Smile

Hello Kwawesome are you enjoying the lovely weather lol !?  I actually didn't measure the difference in height pre and post but my estimate is about 5-6″.  Now 5-6″ doesn't sound like a lot but believe me what a difference it makes for ground clearance.  Also because my truck sits high I need a shank with quite a drop to level out the trailer and post axle flip the shank and torsion bars have so much more clearance making going up driveways and gas station entries so much better!  It does change the look of the camper a bit as it sits higher so you have more space around the wheel wells and since the axle itself stays in the same place it is more visible if that makes sense ( there sure is not alot of clearance under the axle) .  Having said all this when I picked up the trailer I was pleasantly surprised that I did not mind the new look ( Wife didn't mind either which helped) and I feel It was well worth the small cost.  I didn't have it done @ Minard's but they had quoted me 2hours labour ( $200 or so). I would definitely recommend it after having done it as it became apparent from the get go that ground clearance was going to be an issue…lot's of posts here also of breaking off the front jack,  grounding out and breaking the sewer plumbing.  Let me know how it goes and good luck.  Nice to have another Saskatchewanite on here!Cool

I just realized that you have a double axle trailer so your cost to flip would be double.  Mine is a single axle.  What is the tow capacity on your Ford ranger?  That's a pretty heavy trailer for your truck I would say.  I pull mine with a V6 toyota tacoma (5000 lb capacity) and My trailer is considerably lighter and any grades or wind it's working pretty hard.  Just was curious?  Take it easy.Cool

Clearance is always an issue…along with may other little things that are talked about on this site. I'd reco to anyone considering a new purchase / upgrade review the options with your dealer. E.g., I got my 19SB with the full package, plus a 16K BTU furnace, 8K A/C, 2 front stabilizer jacks, a "Straight Axle" (CLEARANCE), and the RVIA seal. All the other little things I TCO.

We installed a WD hitch and a anti sway control on our 16rbt.  Noticed a couple of things, first we don't get the wet noodle feeling when driving on uneven roads, second with the anti sway keeps the TT straight on the road without it getting squirrely when a 18 wheeler passes us.  Lastly and probably more important, our gas millage inproved.

I only use a sway control since the tongue weight does not affect the Navigator at all.  I do notice a difference in stability while using the sway control, especially when getting passed on the highway by 18 wheelers.
